Feast of the Transfiguration

Held on August 19, paasapäiv, or the Feast of the Transfiguration, is the most important day of the year for the Setos of the Mokornulk, or those who live in and around Obinitsa. The celebration begins already the day before with a service at the Obinitsa Church and a procession to Obinitsa Lake. The following day begins with another church service, followed by a picnic in the graveyard at the graves of the departed. In the afternoon, friends of Obinitsa are welcome in the Seto gallery to enjoy Seto leelo songs and dancing. In the evening, a party is held in the village center.
Guests are kindly requested to come in small groups and respect local customs.
